Launched in the winter of 1994, Munhakdongne The Quarterly has provided writers with an arena to present their latest works. Munhakdongne aims at fostering a conductive environment for literary writing and the promotion of dialogs among writers and critics. Most important movements of contemporary Korean literature have been conceived through this magazine. Also, many talented young writers debuted in Munhakdongne. The magazine has established itself as the trend-setter of the Korean literature scene.

Munhakdongne launched a new magazine in the summer of 2015. Mysteria (Mystery + Hysteria) is a bi-monthly magazine for mystery novel fanatics, published by Munhakdongne’s mystery brand ‘Elixir.’ Consisted of articles and columns related to mystery and thrillers, Mysteria provides readers with a variety of fun reads including short stories written by prominent writers such as Joyce Carol Oates, Donald E. Westlake, William Irish, Shirley Jackson, Honobu Yonezawa, and more.

Munhakdongne Korean Literature Collection

Munhakdongne Korean Literature Collection was released in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of Munhakdongne’s establishment. The main selection criterion for this collection was based on the book’s success of making Korean literature shine over the 20 years with Munhakdongne and its readers. This collection will continue to expand with a variety of genres and authors of all generations and it will bear the role of connecting the uniqueness of Korean literature and the universal characteristics of World literature. From this collection Korea will find the past, the present, and the future of modern literature.

Munhakdongne World Classics Collection

Beginning with Leo Tolstoy’s ANNA KARENINA to Herman Melville’s MOBY DICK, we have a selection of 184 books and more to go for our World Classics Collection. The series include eternal classics such as George Orwell’s 1984, Goethe’s FAUST, and Albert Camus’s THE STRANGER, as well as masterpieces written by Nobel Prize winning authors like Mo Yan’s THIRTEEN STEPS, Oe Kenzaburo’s THE BEAUTIFUL ANNABEL LEE WAS CHILLED AND KILLED, Elfriede Jelinek’s THE PIANO TEACHER, J.M.G. Le Clezio’s THE GOLDEN FISH, and Mario Vargas Llosa’s THE FEAST OF THE GOAT. We also have notable contemporary fiction books in this collection, books that have been great inspirations to the world from various countries. Anthology of Award-winning Young Authors (10 Volumes)

Constantly making effort to keep in tune with new literature through many projects, Munhakdongne has brought together an award-winning anthology of young authors. This anthology includes works by Munhakdongne Young Author Award-winning writers under 10 years of their literary debut. Munhakdongne introduces works of promising and unique authors. Have a look into each gripping story of young Korean writers who will be forthcoming Korea’s literary masters.

Bookclub Munhakdongne

As a new project for 2018, Munhakdongne launched a book club in order to connect those who make books with those who read books. The book club provides various benefits for its members, such as reading book guides and promotional services, and it also provides members a chance to hear popular authors give talks. Members can also spend time in independent bookstores and enjoy book talks with other book fellows.
